Energy Efficiency Programs in Agriculture: Design, Success, and
Lessons Learned
Elizabeth Brown, R. Neal
Elliott, and Steven Nadel
January 2005
Summary
The purpose of this report is to review extant programs promoting
energy efficiency in the agriculture sector. We identified and reviewed
a total of 52 programs nationwide (see Table ES-1). Our review consisted
of determining the motivation for the program, obtaining a program
description, and evaluating program impact and success (based on
informal and formal evaluations). From this information, we were
not only able to summarize, to a certain extent, the impact of programs
promoting energy efficiency in the agriculture sector, but also
cull lessons learned from these programs and provide recommendations
for future programs in this sector.
